Before founding his own brand, François-Paul Journe demonstrated his prowess as a skilled watchmaker. He dedicated time to restoring clocks and pocket watches from renowned makers like Janvier and Breguet, and also completed intricate commissions for Asprey and Cartier, among others. In his personal time, the young watchmaker had already assembled a tourbillon-equipped pocket watch, inspired by Dr. George Daniels' writings, and several prototype wristwatches featuring tourbillon and remontoir d'égalité systems. However, Monsieur Journe had yet to establish his own brand, hindered by a lack of capital.
